Carnival of Monsters 2011

I installed two works as part of carnival of Monsters in a large old building that had been a bus depot:

Black/white/grey sections - STRUCTURE.

For this floor based work, I used a series of 16 sections 2030mm x 900mm screwed onto a timber support structure. The black, white, grey surfaces include both artist and

industrial materials, and may be matt/ glossy/ coarse/ smooth. Industrial materials include plexiglass, foamboard, reynobond, aluminium, twin walled polycarbonate.

The scale of the sections enabled the viewer to walk past/around the work with an ever changing experience of relationships between the surfaces, the viewer and the work,

and the work in its architectural context.

 Sections - WALL BASED

For this work I used 6  wall based sections, of the same size as those used in Structure. The surfaces have been developed using layers of acrylic paint/glazes on to MDF.

The sections in both works were fixed using round headed screws and washers. These become part of the work. Arrangement and placing of the sections was decided in situ.
